Can Firefox be used from a thumb drive instead of loaded on the PC?
My employer does not allow any other browsers besides IE to be loaded on the network PCs. I am wondering if I can carry a current copy of Firefox on a thumb drive and just plug it in and use it on the network PCs.

Without your employer's permission that could lead to dismissal, and you would not be able to use it without being noticed on the their system if you work for a large company. I'm sure you can transfer your browser skills from one browser to another.
