just downloaded 4.01, and it seems like I can only open 8-10 tabs, whereas prev ver- i had up to 22 taps open at once... is there a correction I can make to get more tabs?
just downloaded ver 4.01, and it seems that it wont allow me to open more than 8-10 tabs at one time, whereas, the prev version, i had upwards of 20 tabs open at a time. Is there a setting or change I can make to allow more tabs at one time?

Try troubleshooting in Safe Mode to see if the problem is caused by an Add-on. switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes.Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
