Firefox version 4.0 : The plugin-container needs almost 1GB of memory and 50% of the CPU in order to operate. Something has to be wrong. Please advice

Recently switched from chrome to Firefox. Chrome is good but heavy in memory need.

Firefox is not good unfortunately. Crashes all the time. Causes my graphics card driver (??) to fail and as I mention above, the plugin-container requires almost 1GB of memory and 50% of the CPU.

All these with ~25 active tabs open
