One of the two oster children at my place were playing around on facebook, and told me a window popped up and went away. They said they saw the word "History" in the title bar. They were focusing on the keyboard, and glanced up only while the window was there for a moment. This erased ll of my history extending back to September - October.

With the history, once it has been deleted it can not be restored.

It sounds that they opened the History in the sidebar (Ctrl + H).

It would be better to either use a different Windows account or at least create a separate profile for other who use the computer.

Create a new profile and create a desktop shortcut with -P "profile" appended to the target to launch that profile.
