Why do you keep making Firefox more and more impractical?

Where did background playback go? I can’t even use the phone with one hand, and suddenly I can’t fit more than six tabs in there? What are you doing with this browser? I have Firefox on Android set as an unrestricted app, yet it started closing my tabs anyway. What are you doing with this browser?

Where did background playback go?

Google has blocked YouTube playback in the background on mobile web browsers other than Google Chrome. Until now, Firefox, Brave, Microsoft Edge, and other browsers allowed users to block ads using special tools, which meant that videos launched in this way would play when the lock screen was activated.

The company is keen to keep this feature as a benefit for premium subscribers. If you want to play podcasts or longer videos without watching them, you have to pay.

"Background playback is a feature designed to be exclusive to YouTube Premium users,“ Google said in a statement. ”While previously some non-Premium users could get this solution in web browsers in select scenarios, we have updated this experience to ensure consistency across all our platforms."
