As this is a peer support forum (that is other users try and offer support to their peers) I do not know, why don't you ask the donor care team using the link in the donate pages to contact them and ask. Perhaps they have a good reason. Perhaps not. But at this point it is apparently a requirement. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/donate/help/
