Hi, I'm trying to run Firefox 51.0.1 on Mac for Java support, but it opens in 64-bit. The directory only lists one version, no indication of either 32 or 64-bit.

Okay, so by right clicking the application, selecting "Get Info" then checking the box in front of "Open in 32-bit mode" works, but Java is not detected.

Got it working out of the box with Firefox 6.0 Gonna check if there's later versions it will work on/with

Worked with 45 worked with 50

I noticed the Java control panel was not in System Preferences, even though "java -version" in Terminal was reporting that Java 7 was installed and detected. I believe I had installed Java again to make it appear. I believe this is what helped make it work. I don't know what happened, I don't know why Terminal was reporting that it was installed and detected, even though something as major as the entire control panel was missing from System Preferences. Regardless, right now, I can say that it works.

If I had to make an assumption, I would bet on a faulty Java installation or removal. It's not as easy as over on Windows.

Okay, so I thought I had this sorted. The Firefox disk image will run fine, but when you run it from the Applications folder, the issue still occurs. I'm pretty stumped on this one.

The plugin is detected when you run Firefox from the disk image, it is not detected when you run it from the Applications folder. I really don't know what's going on here.

Making it even stranger, upon opening Firefox from the disk image, checking the about section of the software reports that it's running 64-bit, yet also detects the Java plugin which is strange because 64-bit Firefox has never supported Java.

Interested in knowing what's going on here.
