Print to PDF used to name the file with the email's Subject: line, but now it defaults to "Untitled".
I'm on an old MacBook, running an admittedly old version of MacOS (but still claimed to be supported by Thunderbird). When I do File->Print->Save as PDF..., Thunderbird 68 and earlier would put the content of the Subject: line in the Save As: field of the Print dialogue. In Thunderbird 78, it defaults to "Untitled.pdf", and unless I remember to do it first, I have to cancel the printing so I can copy the Subject line to paste it into the Save As: field.
Is this a deliberate regression? Is there some setting to get it back? Or should I file a bug?
Thanks.

When you save a message as a pdf from the Print command, the process is handled by whatever pdf printer driver is applied by the operating system. Windows 10 has a built-in pdf printer driver, and other versions can use 3rd-party drivers, so I expect it is similar with OS X. To export messages in pdf format and have the file name the same as the Subject, use ImportExportTools NG (right-click, Save selected messages, PDF format).
So I have to load an add-on to get a feature that used to be part of Thunderbird? This seems sub-optimal. I guess I'll have to file a bug.

As mentioned in the bug, the W10 Print to PDF is also deficient in that it leaves the file name blank in the Print dialog. The add-on works fine here in TB 78/W10.
I'm not interested in the add-on. This is a regression in TB's behavior on MacOS. I don't know if it's a regression in its behavior on Windows, because I don't know if TB 68 pre-populated the Microsoft "Print to PDF" dialog with the contents of the Subject: line. I have a simple workaround (which my muscle memory now knows), so I can wait for the bug to be fixed.
