I need to download my emails to more than one device. But when I download an email to one of them devices with Thunderbird , the others - with Thunderbird - no longer download it, even if it is present on the server. Do I need to change any settings? Thanks

Chosen solution

Ideally you would be using Imap mail accounts on all devices which show what is currently stored on server. All Thunderbird imap folders synchronise with same folders on the server.

If using a POP account then you would need to make sure all the pop accounts have the setting to 'Leave message on server'. Pop accounts can only access and download from the server Inbox. Folders do not synchronise.

If it is a gmail account then you would need to alter the username to use 'recent'. see info: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7104828?hl=en-GB section: I want to download emails on multiple email clients

Please note that gmail do periodically deliberately block accounts that do not use OAuth as Authentication Method forcing you to reselect 'less secure apps' option in webmail or swap the Authentication Method to OAuth2.
