custom downloader app please

guys my Download speed matches my internet speed when I use 3rd party downloading software, but it's much less when downloading with the built-in downloader from firefox. and apparently they used to function with firefox, but they don't now. I use Persepolis download manager and it makes my life a lot easier if I didn;t have to drag and drop everything.....
