I've seen various forum questions, both new and old, that ebay images won't load. This issue has persisted for the last several Firefox for Windows releases. Is there any workaround?

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

One issue that seems more common lately is Firefox's Tracking Protection feature. When it is blocking content in a page, a shield icon will appear at the left end of the address bar next to the padlock icon. This article has more info on managing this feature: Tracking Protection {web link}

Did you make sure Adblock Plus isn't blocking content?

You can consider uBlock Origin as a replacement to see if that works better (lower memory footprint).

1) I started Firefox in safe mode.

2) Tracking protection is now disabled on ebay.com.

3) I uninstalled Adobe Flash player. Installed the latest version.

4) I'm using the latest graphics driver available.

5) AdBlockPlus is disabled on ebay.com.

I should add, I see about 80% of the thumbnail images on my own ebay selling page, but that's it. I don't see any other images, either from a search or if I click on one of my own listings ("Image not available").

I don't have this issue with Chrome or Internet Explorer, or with any other web site other than ebay.

Hi, please try this : Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove your Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not remove your Firefox profile data (such as bookmarks and passwords), since that information is stored in a different location.

To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, please follow these steps: Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
  2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu New Fx Menu and click the close button Close 29).
  3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:
      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    • Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    • Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
  4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device! See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.

Please report back to say if this helped you!

Thank you.

I uninstalled Firefox, deleted the Firefox installation folder, re-installed 60.0.1 (64-bit). The problem persists.

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

Safe mode makes no difference. ebay.com is the only site at issue, and it is https:// url.

Disabling Adblock Plus via its toolbar button may not be sufficient and some parts may still be active.

Did you try to disable ABP via "Add-ons -> Extensions" completely?

I've not only disabled ABP, I've removed it. It's not because of ABP.

This is a ongoing bug in FF the same link will show everything in Chrome but in FF some pictures are cut out.

That doesn't solve my problem, but thank you for confirming this is a Firefox bug.

Hi, that message is not reliable unfortunately, yes it is and can be a issue but is not a bug. Since you are having the top guns help you on this I will let them do their thing to help you. Just wanted to point out and clarify.

If images are missing then check that you do not block images from some domains.

  • you can tap the Alt key or press the F10 key to show the hidden Menu Bar temporarily

check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools -> Page Info -> Permissions".

Check "Tools -> Page Info -> Media" for blocked images

  • select the first image and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list
  • if an image in the list is grayed and "Block Images from..." has a checkmark then remove this checkmark to unblock images from this domain

You can check this pref on the about:config page.

  • permissions.default.image (1)
  • network.http.sendRefererHeader (2)

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.

  • make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version

You see the shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar in case content is blocked by Tracking Protection.

  • click the shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection
  • check the Web Console for more detail about what content is blocked by Tracking Protection
  • "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Web Developer

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is is causing the problem.

You can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
