Chosen Solution

Option > General. I turn off the annoying sound as well as the tray icon and the "toaster" you refer to which the options call an "alert".

"Alert"! I should have known that. Kept looking for something that referred to a popup. Thanks. I'm new to TB, having used Win Live Mail for what seems like forever. Terms and usage is a bit different. Btw, 'toaster'? Not following...
