I am unable to load my new proxy settings as firefox is continually defaulting to the old username and password. How do I fix this?

The new proxy has the same IP address and port but I have a new user name and password. Essentially I need Firefox to forget the old details to enable me to input and save the new ones. I am using a MacBook Air using macOS Sierra Version 10.12.5 Thank you for your help.

What's your computer system and Firefox version?

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

You can check if you have saved this username and password in the Password Manager.

  • Firefox -> Preferences -> Security: Logins: "Saved Logins" -> "Show Passwords"

Try to clear the active logins.
