How do I limit memory usage?
Firefox on my computer uses over 200MB of RAM by default, plus usually another 100-200MB from what I believe is the tabs. Using almost half a gigabyte of memory to display a single webpage of not even 100kb is ridiculous.
My only addon is adblocker, and disabling it makes no difference. I tried limiting a bunch of settings: browser.cache.disk.capacity;51200 browser.cache.memory.capacity;4096 browser.cache.memory_limit;2048 browser.cache.offline.capacity;51200
These make no difference either. How do I limit the amount of memory firefox is allowed to use? I'm thinking along the lines of 50MB at the very most rather than 400MB on average for a single webpage.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?
