Why can't I set up junked mail to go straight into the trash folder?
Online explanations do not match my computer's Thunderbird at all! Messages get a junk mark by them but do not go straight into a trash folder, and I cannot find any way to sort this out. I am tired of deleting 30 or 40 spam messages by hand every day!

Maybe you're not using Windows? It does help to mention such things.

In Windows and Linux, alt or F10 will get you a proper menu. I have given up trying to help OSX users.

Spam messages are supposed to be moved to the 'Junk' folder.
I have tried to follow all of the Mozilla online help. My Thunderbird does not have tools on its toolbar. I have to right click at the top right of the screen to get anything marked tools. When I click on that tools, there is nothing that says either Options or Account Settings.

At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button
> Options
Pushing F10 brought up the correct menu thanks!
