My Win 8.1 64 bit system shows Thunderbird ver 45.1 as 32 bit- shouldn't it be a 64 bit version?

Mozilla themselves only finally had official Win64 Firefox Releases (get them here) starting at 42.0 Release and they have a lot more resources compared to the Thunderbird community.

It would be different story if you needed Win64 builds in order to use it on 64-bit Windows 7, 8 (8.1), 10.
