I keep getting "unresponsive script" error reports and I've tried many options including refeshing firefox. any ideas?

more options

I have an HP Pavillon, Juno email and Firefox is my default browser, At some point while accessing my email I will get the "unresponsive script" error and although it gives my options to continue, debug or close, none of it works and computer freezes. So I have to go to Task Manager and close everything down and start over. Very frustrating. It has also happened when I have been on other websites or with Internet Explorer. HP has tried fixing it, Juno has tried ....all to no avail. I've tried refresh, done many virus/malware scans, etc. It seems to me there is a plug-in or an add-in or some box somewhere not checked. Any ideas?

jscher2000 Thank you very much for your latest suggestion. As it turns out great minds think alike as I spoke with an HP tech who also suggested AdBlock and it has apparently solved my problem so I am absolutely delighted and of course thankful for your help and all the others who tried so hard with me to solve this long frustrating problem. I think as of now, I am considering my problem solved. Thanks again for your continued support

Lots of new top level domains have been added in recent years but I don't see a .juno on the list: https://newgtlds.icann.org/en/program.../delegated-strings. If the page is trying to call a script from that exact address it's not going to load. But it should fail quickly.

Unless maybe some content is being substituted by an intermediary. If you follow this link, does Firefox retrieve anything? If possible, could you first open Firefox Network Monitor in the lower part of the tab before opening this link. (You can use the menu button > Developer > Network Monitor, or the Tools menu > Web Developer > Network Monitor) That should let you see whether there is a redirect to a different page/site during the fetching process:

When I saw your response last night I wanted to make sure I understood what you were suggesting so just tried it but don't think I follow I got to menu, developer and network but then got a listing of things with domain names and was lost again. Is there any clearer way you might describe the procedure? (In the meantime I will keep trying as I have had to shut down computer five or six times this afternoon due to unresponsive script box Thanks,

jscher2000 FredMcD Brian26 I appreciate all the support you have given me but my problem is still not resolved. It is SO frustrating. I keep getting these unresponsive messages in the middle of typing and then have to shut down and lose stuff because computer freezes before I can save and although my choices on error box are to cancel or stop script it really does not let me do anything other than start over. I am going to try and attach two screen shots that may give one of you a clue Thanks again (upload did not work we try something else later)

I think that's a video-related script, but I'm not sure. It's unfortunate that the dialog can't fit the entire URL.

Do you use any ad blocking extensions? If not, you might try one in case these troublesome scripts are being delivered through ad networks. These are popular:

Hi portie, could you start a new question? I realize your issue is related, but this question already has more than two pages of replies and is marked solved, so you would have a better shot at a personalized solution in a new question.

As I mentioned in a previous reply, I got so much advice from this support group and really appreciated it. However as it turned out my problem was solved by HP. I am now using Chrome (not Firefox) but the real thing that stopped my "unresponsive script/ads" IMMEDIATELY was the installation of AdBlock. I now get ZERO ads and NO unresponsive scrip errors. My problem is solved and I hope yours will also be solved quickly.

Thanks for your response, I already have ad block, but that doesn't work. I don't like Chrome because it wants too much control of my pc. I have used Mozilla for many years, until this crappy Win 10.

I did try to enter more but between Win 10 and Mozilla it keeps freezing and I lose everything. Apparently the issue isn't resolved, since I have tried the various things listed and still have the same issues. Mozilla will work if I use the ScriptYes, but the issue with that, the websites I would have to list are the ones I want to use. None of the other fixes I have seen have worked either. This the same script issues as was noted, I previously attached screen shots of messages, which are the same as everyone else posted. So I didn't think it was a new issue.

Hi portie, are you saying your Firefox freezes up when the only tab open is Mozilla support? That's very troubling, since that makes it impossible to post a new question from Firefox and you would be forced to use a different browser.
