I receive my email on my laptop via Mozilla Thunderbird

I have recently moved my email service from Hostek to Hostgator. If i put the new email, server details and password into Thunderbird will it wipe out the emails received on my old email settings?

Thanks Flora

Not necessarily, but in your position I'd move all the old messages to the Local Folders account then delete the old account.

If the old account uses IMAP then you will almost certainly lose the messages in it.

If it uses POP it'll have your messages stored locally, but it will try to connect to the server and raise error messages when it can't connect.

Either way round, it's best to extract and save the messages from the old account and then remove it.
