thunderbirfd 31.0 overrode an older version on my computer and I lost some of my files, can I recover these?
I was using and older version of Thunderbird, when I downloaded version 31.0, it overrode the older version and I lost all my email files that I was saving. Can I revert back to the older version, or recover my Hold files some other way? Thank you, AndyLot19.

Do you know how old the original version was? Given that the current version is 38.5.0, even your new one (31.0) looks a bit old.
Older versions are available here:
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/
…but you'll need a fairly good idea of what version you were using.
I do not have any info on the older version of Thunderbird that I had been using. I began using it in 2007, to replace a defective Windows Mail program. Later, I was informed of an update and installed it. I lost all my files. I do not know much about computers, but by trial and error I recovered my files. From that time on I avoided updating Thunderbird. Recently, I made a mistake and inadvertinly ran an update (38.0.1 not 38.1) Again all my files were lost, so I wrote to you for help. Without me doing anything , all my files are back. There is a different look to my "read mail" page in Internet Explorer 9, but everything appears to be back. Microsoft will not allow Windows Vista Home Premium to update IE9, so I installed Firefox, but can not find Thunderbird, so I use IE9 to read email. Can you help with that? Thank you very much for you help. andylot19
