Hi all. My Firefox is crashing and hanging WAY too often. It crash when I start Firefox, when I get on Youtube, when I get on some websites, etc....

Is it happening because I have only 512 MB of RAM?Or a slow CPU(Intel(R) Celeron(R) M Processor 1.86 GHz)?

Or I'm using the latest Adobe Flash Player which have a higher system req than my computer does?

These are some crash ID:

Chosen solution

It might be that something about your system gives Ad Block Edge issues. Please go to the support site for the add-on. You may find it on the add-ons web page. They may have a fix for you.

You will need add blocking protection because some of them can overload you with a gig of adds. I use;

Adblock Plus {web link} Blocks annoying video ads on YouTube, Facebook ads, banners and much more. Adblock Plus blocks all annoying ads, and supports websites by not blocking unobtrusive ads by default (configurable).

Just subjective personal opinion but I would say

  • 512MB RAM is rather low these days on a desktop, especially if any of that happens to be allocated to graphics use leaving even less spare for Firefox.
  • I have noticed quite a few problems related to graphics handling on XP and lower specification desktops recently
  • We should not discus general computing matters here you would need to find a suitable site elsewhere for advice but if you are the type that tinkers with computers and you are unable to fit more RAM maybe consider a motherboard bundle with CPU MB & RAM included (check it is compatible with your IDE? HDD)

I think there are still more XP machines around than any other single OS version, and unlike MS Mozilla with Firefox is still doing its best to support XPs.

I will provide links to four articles that may help with general tips and information

The Crash IDs starting with bp- are the ones we are interested in as they have been successfully submitted and processed. I am afraid the two reports are not ones that I fully understand or give clues I understand enabling me to suggest a solution.

The first crash is a hang involving webplayer, something likely to be occurring when playing games. The second one; I guess, from the name; is Windows failng to store a file.

You could as a test try Firefox in its safe mode and with all plugins disabled, it may not be able to do much then but if it still crashes it may give a more useful Crash ID, or if it works ok it gives us a better idea of what the problem is.

No related bug reports but for general info

  1. webplayer appears to relate to Unity game engine
  2. I understand the crashing module comdlg32.dll to be part of the Windows Common Dialogs Library ( see 1 & 2)

The first report is a problem with the Unity Player 4.3.7f1 plugin.

The second report looks like a problem with your Bkav security software (BkavFirewallEngine.dll)

I used Safe mode and it somehow worked, but still, a small hang at the boot up.

Maybe it's the plugins.

That one's FlashPlayer related. No specific bugs filed for that, and although there are things that could be done to try to help with that I wonder whether in this instance it is just one face of deeper issues,

Looking at that report it appeared you had dropped back to Firefox 29. That would not be recommended as Fx 29.0.1 it is not supported or secure. However I note in fact, it appears to be an old report, and shows

Well, I have a clue now. I usually log on to my computer as a Admin.

But when I log on as a Guest, everything is normal. I don't have any addons installed on Guest's Firefox.

My comp is even faster than it always are.Something strange here...

Open your add-ons manager. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox. If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is detective.

The Ad blocker, I think. It's the Ad Block Edge.

Open its options and check them. Look for exceptions also.
