As I am using only European languages and I have no second keyboard I would prefer if when I switch language my keyboard setting stays as it is US-international and not to a wacky Dutch setting. I toggle between languages with a pop-up menu

Are you using the O/S to change keyboard layout?

Assuming O/S means operating system, in the end I assume FF does but I use the FF feature right click in an text field to activate a pop-up menu as shown in the attached picture

Hmm, I wouldn't expect that the keyboard layout changes if you select another spell checking dictionary like your screenshot shows.

Are you possibly using a key sequence to rotate the layout (default is usually Ctrl + Shift or Alt + Shift) that you might trigger accidentally?

Cor-el I do use the the <control + > and <control - > to change the screen display.. Generally I set this to 133% in order to wipe out right side bar in FB . Does this might cause the problem?? Funny thing is that it does not happen all the time

Hello fransvankuijen, Would you take a look at this thread please : https://kassa.bnnvara.nl/vraag-beantwoord/vraag/computers-telefonie/toetsenbordindeling-windows-10-wijzigt-spontaan

Not sure if this for me I run win-7 and the keyboard change happens not at start-up but on changing dictionaries . But thanks

I assumed that you wouldn't have any difficulties finding the same setting on Windows 7 - and these keyboard changes do not just happen on startup.

But I must admit that I overlooked the fact that you switch between dictionaries and that this problem doesn't occur consistently (my apologies ...... )

I noticed that you marked my last post as Chosen Solution - that must have happened inadvertently, as I did not solve your
problem .....

You can rectify it by clicking on the 'Undo' button to the right of that post.

Call me stubborn (which I am .... ) but would you take a look at this article (scroll down to Windows 7) - cause I still think that it's worth checking that setting .....

https://elektronicaweb.com/handleidingen/toetsenbord-instellingen/

Also : cor-el mentioned Ctrl + Shift - when you inadvertently press them simultaneously, that just might cause this behavior .....

Nothing wrong in persisting to help someone. I think I have got the idea following your link I have indeed found the option to remove the Dutch keyboard. So I guess problem solved... by this link https://elektronicaweb.com/handleidingen/toetsenbord-instellingen/
