In the past few weeks, several webpages- all completely unrelated- do not open and instead i get some jpeg that is part of the webpage. for example, when i try to access ebay, i get this picture that i attach here. sometimes it is happening when i am trying to access a link within a website (like an article in a news website). I discovered that I am able to access some pages in the ebay website, but the main page is out for me. In some cases cmd+shift+R are enough to reload the webpages properly, but not in all websites. and it is getting worse, with more and more websites affected. I have an updated version of firefox for mac. I tried to refresh the browser and it didn't do any change. I tried to deactivate most of my plugins and extensions but it didn't make a difference. I suspect that it might have started in one of the latest upgrades that I did.

Are you using a proxy?

Does this also happen if you use default connection settings?

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network : Connection > Settings

See "Firefox connection settings":

Did you make changes to network.http.* prefs or are they all the default if you check that on the about:config page?

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

What are you using to open those pages? Bookmarks, shortcuts, another web page . . . . .

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
