AOL issues ver 154.0
Thunderbird has not been incoming or outgoing aol mail for me. I removed my account and set it up again and it worked for about a week, now it's not working again. I logged out, changed my password in AOL, updated it in thunderbird and my emails for the past several days appeared, but I still can't send emails. I get the following message: "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) smpt.aol.com failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again."
My outgoing settings: Description: AOL Mail - Server Name:smpt.aol.com - Port:587 - Connection security:SSL/TLS - Authentication method:OAuth2 - User Name:myusername@aol.com.
I have tried changing the port to 465 but it didn't help. Please help and explain it to me like I am 5 years old.

My currently working AOL settings are:
Incoming Server Type: IMAP Incoming Server Name: imap.aol.com Port: 993 User Name: <user name> Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: Normal password
SMTP Server Name: smtp.aol.com SMTP Port: 465 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: Normal password User Name: <user name>
I have not yet changed to OAuth2, so it looks like they still accept the old, less-secure Normal Password authentication method. You must use an App Password, not your regular log-in password if not using OAuth2.
