I accidentally deleted my main profile thinking it was a extra one

I was wondering if I could recover the profile that I accidentally deleted. I managed to sign in, but my passwords and everything are not there.

Hi Ellie, if you deleted it from the about:profiles page, unfortunately, Firefox does not use the Windows Recycle bin for that delete, it's permanent.

Do you have any recent backups of your computer?

If not:

Windows itself may have captured a copy of your profile folder when it updated itself. This is called a shadow copy, and you can explore for one using either of the following tools. They unfortunately do not seem to always recover readable files, but you certainly can give it a try:

(1) Set Windows to show hidden files and folders, if you haven't done this before:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/view-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-97fbc472-c603-9d90-91d0-1166d1d9f4b5

(2) Download and install one of the following programs:

(3) Start up the program and look for the latest restore point. Then explore along this path to see whether you can find a shadow copy of your profile (most likely default-release?):

\Users\your-user-name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\your.profile

(4) I don't know whether you can export out the entire folder, or need to export individual files. Either way, create a folder on your Desktop/Documents/Downloads for easy access. More info on profile folder contents:

Anything usable there?
