Please help me to understand why I keep getting the 'Gah! Your tab just crashed' message. This only started a couple of weeks ago, but is extremely annoying and makes me doubt the integrity of Firefox. The problem can be circumvented (at least for a while) by closing and re-opening Firefox, but I'd prefer not to have to keep doing this.

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A list of Submitted (and Unsubmitted, if any) Crash Reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Submitted Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Dear Paul, Thank you for your response. I entered 'about:crashes', but the response was 'No crash reports have been submitted'. Should these reports be generated automatically, or is there an action I have to take to generate them? Shenn_Ghaelgeyr

If you get a tab crash (Gah. Your tab just crashed) then you may not get the crash reporter and in such a case it can be harder to troubleshoot.

You can possibly check the Browser Console (Ctrl+Shift+J) for relevant-looking messages.

You can consider uBlock Origin as a replacement for your current Adblocker extension to see if that works better (lower memory footprint, less issues).

Dear Cor-el,

Thank you, I managed to find the Browser Console, although I have to admit that it didn't mean much to this 79-year-old with limited computer skills! Many of the lines say "Some cookies are misusing the recommended “SameSite“ attribute 244", followed by a number - is this relevant to the problem?

Having just renewed my subscription to AdBlock Premium, I'm loath to ditch it just yet, but, if the 'crashing' problem continues, I'll look at it again in 12 months' time.

Anyway, many thanks for your response.
