Wayne,

Maybe but let me tell you what I lose with the latest upgrade and that's my Calendar program called ReminderFox and I like it and have been using it for several years. For some technical reasons, they do not plan to upgrade it for the latest and further newer versions of Thunderbird.

Where can I get the installation file for the previous version of the program?

Thanks,

John

I'm still looking for an earlier version of Thunderbird. Is there someone out there that saves previous installation files?

Thanks,

John

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/60.9.0/

If using Windows OS: select 'win32' select prefered language eg: en-GB = English British Then click on 'Thunderbird Setup 60.9.0.exe' to download

Toad-Hall,

Current versions are now 68.1.1, so I thought you meant that last of the 60* Here is 60.8.0 http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/60.8.0/

No what do I do to install it? I'm not much of a tech guru.

Thanks,

John

Download the 'Thunderbird Setup 60.9.0.exe' file. It will probably download to either your desktop or downloads folder. Double click on that file and the install wizard will commence.

I'm looking for the version before 60.9.0. The link you sent earlier doesn't show an executable file to either download or click to install.

The authors of reminder fox have stated they will not be updating the add-on to the new web extensions in firefox and mail extensions in Thunderbird, So you are taking yourself into a corner where the software you are proposing to use is not supported and is subject to increasing levels of security problems as time goes by.

Regardless the download page for the add-on explicitly states which versions of Thunderbird it works with. Please look at what it says https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/reminderfox/

Most folks manage with a calendar and a todo list in the Thunderbid calendar and tasks. Perhaps you need to look at how you manage your information instead of backing off into an unsupported position.

Otherwise the reminder fox poeple have converted their support site in to a recommended list of alternative applications. see http://www.reminderfox.org/documentation

Matt,

Thanks for the advice. I looked at Lightning for a few minutes and it looks nice. Is there a way to sync it with Google Calendar? I couldn't find anything.

Thanks,

John

There are two ways. Using caldav for calendar only and using the gdata provider add on that also syncs the todo list. For your purposed with the add-on is probably the best approach.

See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-lightning-google-calendar

When adding the gdata provider, go to the add-on manager in app menu > add-ons and type the name gdata in the search box and press the enter key. When the add-on is located click the add to Thunderbird button.

Note that google calendars are considered "on the network" when you add them.

Matt,

Thanks for al your help. I now have my calendar on Thunderbird that is the same as my Google calendar. It took some work however as it seems to me some of the instructions from TB are not only slightly confusing, they don't seem to work. I only got my Google calendar hooked quite by accident, I think. Anyway, your guidance got me home.

Thanks for the feedback. Which instructions specifically (URL and citation) and what do you suggest would be improved wording?

The following instructions didn't match my Windows 10 (fully up to date) installation. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-lightning-google-calendar#w_read-and-write-access

I just stumbled around until i go hooked up with Google Calendar. I'm still not sure if Lightning played a part in this. however, what I did was wanted.
