What's the best way to move a pop3 account with many emails and local folders from a windows 7pc to a new windows 10 pc? They are both on the latest version.

God's morrow, Gentlefolk and folkesses. I'm trying to migrate Thunderbird to a new coputer. Horrified to see that the Thunderbird folder was 26 GB, I deleted thousands of old emails, emptied all deleted item folders, deleted all archives, restarted the computer and then went to check on the size of the new "much slimmer" folder.
After deleting masses of unwanted data, the folder size has INCREASED to 33GB!
What to do?

Hi,
When I tried to set up Thunderbird last in November, I had a security exception request for Sectigo Limited (previous question). This time is similar but different.
It says the certificate information is invalid.
Am I supposed to confirm this security exemption?
Please see attached.
Thanks,
Joe

Hi, I have just installed Thunderbird on a new installation of Windows 10. Windows 10 crashed last Friday and was unrecoverable. I have been able to recover all the files off the Windows partition and saved the whole partition on an external hard drive through Linux. During the weekend I have still been downloading emails on Linux using thunderbird. I have copied the profile on Linux (that contain a weekends worth of messages) to the same external hard drive. My problem now is how do merge all these sets of messages together? 1/ The original profile has LOTS of local folders, message filters with loads of critical emails. All of these ar backed up on the external drive. I dont know which files all the local folders and messages are contained in. I dont mind moving folders one at a time if needed. 2/ The emails downloaded whilst I was using linux has about 40 ish emails. Everything is in one inbox. 3/ The emails I downloaded today are likewise all in one inbox. I've tried reading lots on how to move, create profiles, etc. I basically would like to recreate all the original local folders and message rules in my current fresh installation of Thunderbird. My current fresh installation is all the time downloading new messages and I'd like to add in the messages from my temporary linux instaaltion of thunderbird over the weekend. I can post images of directories or any other information that can be of assistance. Just want to break throught some of the confusion. At least I've managed to sort out my Firefox profile. Thanks.
David.

I installed Thunderbird (78.6.1/32-bit) on a new computer running Windows10 Pro. Following files 'installs & profiles' were created in 'C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird' They contain following info ...
1) installs: [8216C80C92C4E828] Default=Profiles/a0xgpvl8.default-release Locked=1
2) profiles: [Install8216C80C92C4E828] Default=Profiles/a0xgpvl8.default-release Locked=1
[Profile1] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/zio2d614.default Default=1
[Profile0] Name=default-release IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/a0xgpvl8.default-release
[General] StartWithLastProfile=1 Version=2
In the Profile folder I have the two folders 'a0xgpvl8.default-release' and 'zio2d614.default'. On my old computer I made a backup of my profile 'lccgh133.default' where all my mailfolders are. How do I get the old mailfolders to my new computer?

I would like to setup a new domain that I registered at Go Daddy to start receiving email using Thunderbird as my email client. Go Daddy asked me to supply them with the information (MX records, etc) from Thunderbird to add to the domain's DNS records. I don't know what that information is. I also need help with the account setup at Thunderbird so that it will be configured to receive and send emails properly.
My new domain is caryneyes.com
Thank you!
Solved! Thanks.

Finally got a new PC. Win 10 64bit. On old computer, was win 7 then moved to win 10. 32 bit OS. T-bird has been working great on old system. I found the "how to" migrate my DB and info to new machine. Thought I followed instructions well but did not work. On opening T-bird it was asking for which profile to use and the first time I selected default which did not allow any of the old data to populate. Upon re loading the T-bird folder in the roaming folder I selected something else (don't remember) and all info populated. Everything worked well until I rebooted the machine. Then it was gone. I then tried copying the profile file and using that and now T-bird doesn't even open. I get a window stating "no profile found". Tried un-installing T-bird and re-installing, no luck. Same issue no profile. It is now beyond my paygrade. Help! Thanks, J
