Thunderbird Icon changed to a blank paper. On selecting the icon a message appears saying this app won't run on this computer. It did earlier today

Thunderbird worked earlier today, and for years before. On selecting the Thunderbird icon this evening the message appeared 'This app will not run on this computer, contact the app maker'. On closing that message the Thunderbird icon changed to a blank paper.

I would install it again. If you don't have the installer file, go to www.getthunderbird.com to download and re-install it.
