You can select the "Do Not Track" option:

  • in Firefox 4 by checking "Tell web sites I do not want to be tracked":
    • click Firefox button > Options > Options > Advanced > General, Browsing section
    • using the Menu Bar if you wish: Tools > Options > Advanced > General, Browsing section
  • In Firefox 5 by checking "Tell web sites I do not want to be tracked" (with special thanks to sawanbanna; see post below):
    • click Firefox button > Options > Options > Privacy
    • using the Menu Bar if you wish: Tools > Options > Privacy
  • See information about Firefox's "Do Not Track" option (web site response to the header sent by this option is voluntary):

The Firefox button is visible by default only in Vista and Windows 7. You can turn it on and the Menu Bar (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help) off if you wish. Warning: the menu items are different on the Firefox button, but you can turn the Menu Bar back on if you wish.

To check/un-check Menu Bar do one of the following:

  • Note: Menu Bar checked = Menu Bar on, Firefox button off; un-checked = Firefox button on, Menu Bar off
  • from Menu Bar: View > Toolbars > Menu Bar
  • from Firefox button: Firefox button > Options > Menu Bar
  • HOLD down the ALT key while pressing the keyboard letters VTM
