Many of us are using Classic Theme Restorer (Customize Australis) {web link} Restore squared tabs, appmenu, add-ons bar, small button view and more on Australis UI (Windows/MacOSX/Linux + Fx 29+).

This will restore many of the things the last upgrade took away.

It also has the option for different colors tabs; active / not seen . . . . .

Not active tabs are supposed to be transparent, the Windows desktop should show thru those tabs - unless you added a theme to Firefox. In that case, disable the theme or get a theme that has a lighter color background.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to Troubleshoot the issue and to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
