Total loss of emails/profile after windows update and thunderbird update
My Thunderbird was working fine today, all messages received, could send/receive email and all parts of my profile that I had set up (ie custom archive folders) were present and had emails.. I did a Windows update and when I reopened Thunderbird there was a pop up prompting me to login to my yahoo email. I did so and now everything is gone, all folders are empty - no emails and none of the unique folders I had created. The only thing that I can tell is still present is my address book. I am also unable to send or receive emails. When I try to send an email (to myself or anyone else) I get a pop-up "The mail server responded: Request failed; Mailbox unavailable. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings." I checked and the email listed is correct, the one I have been using my entire life. I also checked my Server Settings and they appear to be correct. (I have a cox.net email address which I transitioned to yahoo several years ago as instructed by Cox, as Cox no longer supports email - everything has been working perfectly until today) I also see there was a Thunderbird update done at 5:53PM today which would have been the same time I did the windows update (Thunderbird 153.0.3esr). I sent an email to myself from my yahoo website email and it never arrived in my Thunderbird Inbox but it DOES show in my Thunderbird "Sent" folder. I do have a Thunderbird backup ZIP file but unfortunately it is about a year old so obviously won't have some stuff I would not like to lose. Thoughts?????

Sorry to hear this.
If it's due to update, you can try to recover it. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recover-user-data-missing-after-thunderbird-update
Unfortunately did not work, everything still the same.
When I was going through the process I was once again prompted to log into my yahoo account and did so - no error messages/login failure messages.
I did receive the following Thunderbird popup after I was done: "Authentication failure while connecting to server imap.mail.yahoo.com"
The "new" profile I used still did have the one email in my sent folder, same as the original profile, but nothing else.
I did receive the following email in Thunderbird from Yahoo:
"Your Yahoo account XXXXXXXX was used to sign in to a new third party application on Thunderbird Mail. If this wasn’t you, please use this link to revoke third party access to your account, and change your password. You can also revoke access to Thunderbird Mail by going to yahoo.com and navigating to the Recent Activity tab under Account Info."
Confused how I received this but can't send an email to myself.
Also, I am still getting emails on my gmail linked cox.net account on my phone
I assume Yahoo.com has changed something about its authentication. Could you please check if you have all your emails at Yahoo webmail. If yes, you can recreate your yahoo mail account in Thunderbird.
I got it fixed. Apparently when I was prompted to login into yahoo it was wanting my email address for my user id and my Thunderbird password. I used the profile switch info you showed me, created a new profile and logged in with the above. I then set it as my default profile. All seems to be good now. When it initially asked for my yahoo login on Tuesday, I used my yahoo user id and password which, obviously, are different than the ones that actually worked as noted above. I assume either the Microsoft or Thunderbird update (or a combination of the two) caused the yahoo login prompt after the updates were installed Tuesday, as I never have to enter this info for Thunderbird to work - it would always open and all my emails would just be there, no additional logging in was required. Thanks for your help!!!
Good job.
