How to log into 192.168.1.1 ?

If I try to log into my router at 192.168.1.1 I get a message that says "Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead". I expect that, but when I click on the Advanced button it doesn't do anything. Works fine with Chrome, so not my router or anti-virus. ???

I'd be surprised that Chrome use HTTPS there.

Is this page for real HTTPS? Switch to HTTP.

I tried both http://192.168.1.1 and https://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. Both return the same error and the Advanced button does not work for either. However, works fine from Firefox on my Android phone.

Related, given my address bar also doubles as a search request bar, and when I get the error message it simply says 192.168.1.1 in the address bar, how do I know if http or https got used ? Not that it seems to matter.

Thanks

jack63ss, I've also had problems accessing my router's control panel through Firefox in the past. What worked for me was to enter just the numbers part of the router's IP address into the address bar (without either a "http://" or "https://" prefix).
