whenever I type into Thunderbird, text display always lags my keystrokes - sometimes significantly. This is not new - I have been living with this for quite a while (years?) but now I am fed up.

I have run this version of Tbird in Safe Mode, there is absolutely no difference. I have started Windows in Safe Mode, then Tbird in Safe Mode - still lags. BTW, I have NO add-ons installed. I have one Plugin, Flashwave Shock - but it is and has been DISABLED (can't figure out how to remove it or delete it!)
