more options

I always had google as my browser but since last week yahoo started appearing as my web browser, I have change the search setting back to google search and it only work one time and then it goes back to yahoo, Its very frustrating and invasive, I like google search, I find it more useful and I'm used to it. Could someone help me get ride of Yahoo Search?

One possible culprit would be an extension. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. All extensions are optional. If in doubt, disable.

Be especially suspicious of anything from Yahoo itself or "Searchme".

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Can you regain control of your Firefox?

Note: if you are able to use the default search engine and home page of your choice during your session, but Firefox starts up with different settings the next time, please see this article: How to fix preferences that won't save.

Firefox is the web browser as Yahoo and Google are search engines.
