TB 38.0.1 will not receive/send mails from imap Gmail&Outlook

I know that there is an issue with retrieving mails from Outlook ( have been to known issues page :-)) but I want to bring to your attention that I have a similar issue with Gmail since the upgrade to 38.0.1. I have spend hours surfing on Mozilla help but did not find a solution. Needless to say that I am not a geek, so may be I do not kow where to search !

Even in safe mode nothing will happen. I have a long list of errors / messages / warnings but have no clue which ones could be helpful to you.

Hi again,

I forgot to say that I get a pop-up message saying something like "' you may have exceeded the number of connections to the server". The message appears for 1 second and is not in the error console.

Hello charlotteauxfraises, You may wish to provide more detail if you want community help. For example, are you using a Mac OS or Windows? And are you using an IMAP or POP Gmail account?

Regarding the pop-up error message you saw for 1 second--I think this is usually an issue only for IMAP accounts, so I am guessing you are using IMAP. There is a suggested fix here: http://www.electrictoolbox.com/thunderbird-exceeded-maximum-connections-imap-server/ . Try it and see if it works.

If it doesn't help (or if you have a POP account) then you should check to see that your configuration is correct, both in gmail, and in Thunderbird. I understand these problems have started even though you haven't changed anything in your account settings, but it's a good idea, as a starting point, to make sure your port settings, connection security settings, authentication method, etc. are all correct.

Follow the directions at https://support.google.com/mail/troubleshooter/1668960?hl=en#ts=1665119,1665160 and see if you are set up correctly.

Many thanks for your reply. Indeed as i mentioned in the title I am using two IMAP accounts : Gmail and Outlook. I am under Windows 7 . Firefox is my browser and TB my mail "supplier". I do not have anything strange installed on my computer and is using TB&FF for many years already. My firewall is avast.

Following you advise I put the connections to servers to "1 "but this did not help. I also checked my accounts settings but everything is all right.

Still I do not get my mail in TB.

I wish I would not have updated to 38.0.1 !

I hope that the the mozzilla community can soon find a solution.
