I just did a fresh install of firefox on my laptop (Intel i7 16gb ram win 7 pro 64 bit) but whenever a new tab opens, something called unifinder appears. It does not show in the list of firefox add-ons and I saw no request during the install/setup to add this program. It does not show up on my google chrome browser or IE, only in firefox. I do not want it - please tell me how to remove it.

Hello,

Something may have changed your newtab preference. You can change it in your Firefox configuration:

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
  3. In the search bar above the list search "newtab", and look for the preference browser.newtab.url
  4. Double click the row or right click and select Modify/Reset - Reset sets it back to default (about:newtab)

Alternatively, you can install the Search Reset Tool extension which resets your home page, new tab page, and search preferences back to default and then uninstalls itself.

Let us know if that helps.
