Firefox has recently gotten very slow. No problems with other browsers. I tried a reset of Firefox. Did not help. I have used Firefox as my default browser for years, but I'm about ready to switch because of the frustration. Any last suggestions? This has also occurred with at least one other work station at our newspaper. Thanks.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

MemTest LAST UPDATED : 27/09/2013 Could you please run a tool from http://memtest.org/ in order to check the integrity of your RAM?

You will need a thumb or disk drive to install it on.

Do you let Windows handle the page file or did you set a fixed size ? If you use a fixed size for the page file then try the former and let Windows handle the page file.

I ran it in Safe Mode. No noticeable difference. I did not do your memory test, as no other program I am operating has an issue, including other browsers. Not sure what you mean by your last question. I guess I let Windows handle it, as I've never set a fixed size.

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

What if I just save my bookmarks, delete the browser and reinstall?

If this is an issue with your current profile folder then reinstalling Firefox won't help.
