I just upgraded to 128.2.2esr and cannot receive or send messages after the update. I have restarted the computer and tried again - still nothing. I'm unable to use a tool that is critical for my daily needs.

Trying to send just says "Connected" or "Sending" but never completes. Worked fine before the update which was just in the past hour or so.

Same issues with downloading new email or sending email for all accounts. :(

Anyone else having problems? Ideas?

Win 365 desktop, Thunderbird 128.2.2esr (64-bit) -- all updates current.

With the last update every e-mail displays both the name and e-mail of the sender in the Corespondents column of the inbox and other folders. While I understand the security value of this I find it much more difficult to read. They become very long and cluttered. Is there any setting I can change to make the e-mail part not display?

Even better would be a setting or update where the sender name and e-mail are separate columns.

I have successfully used Thunderbirds for 10 years on my 2013 Mac BookPro. During the last 6 months I've had a number of instances when Thunderbirds could not connect with the server. (See attached image). I have found that hitting the Cancel key and letting the system sort itself out was the best option as I always managed to download my emails. As of the 16 Sept 2024 this has method has not been successful and I have had to resort to Mail on my iPad. This is not very satisfactory as all history and contacts are with Thunderbirds. I need a solution to login to my Thunderbirds account. I've not changed any settings or passwords. I'm running Norton 360 security on all computers in this household and have for 15 years. HELP!!!!!

Previously all of the email accounts created in thunderbird worked flawlessly, one day when checking email automatically a seperate window opened displaying the error "Access Denied", I searched the net for a solution and could not find one, it is very possible that one of the most recent linux updates may have changed something as I recall a larger than normal update just before this occurred a few days ago.

With version 128, now when I open Thunderbird, I get a notification alert and sound for every new email. If I have 20 new emails, I get 20 notification alerts and sounds. Very annoying. The previous version would have one notification saying I have 20 unread emails. Much better.

Recently a lot of mailing-list emails that I do I want to get kept ending up in my Junk folders. So I started setting up filters, and now the problem is worse than before. The attached screen grab image shows an example. I've been on Bud's Art Books mailing list for about two years. When their emails starting going into my Junk folder, I set this "Not-Junk" filter up as shown. But now every email I get from Bud's ends up in my Junk folder. This is happening with dozens of emails I get daily from groups and vendors that I do want to see. I've set up this same "Not Junk" filter for all of them, and they all continue to go to Junk. Is there something wrong with the filter settings I'm using? TIA for any help on this.

I use the imap protocol.

And during folder transfer, deletion or renaming, phantom folders are created. If I install this mailbox on another computer, the phantom folders are loaded.

There are no such problems with Outlook. Can anyone tell me what to do about this? (if i use protocol mapi) In web mail i too not see fhantom folder

I read that I now need a secure mail key so I can access my emails with third party app Thunderbird. I have created a secure mail key at att.com which is part of Yahoo. My email app is att.yahoo.com. I was told the passwords for Thunderbird would be within the profile under the Profile Folder but I cannot find them there. All I want to do is update my password within the Profile Folder and it seems like it would easier to break into Fort Knox.

I have prepared a new list in my address book of 36 addresses. I called it Signatures 2024. I tried to send the emails and it won't send and I have received a note "Invalid Recipient Address. Signatures 2024 is not a valid email address because it is not of the form user@host. You must correct it before sending." I accidentally deleted an email account through Tools- Account Settings - Account Actions - Remove Account.

Is it possible to restore this account and its associated sub-folders.

I have installed Thunderbird on a separate PC and restored my latest backup, which unfortunately is 4 months old, meaning that I am missing 4 months worth of emails.

Might it be possible to link to files/folders containing my messages prior to the removal, perhaps by recreating the email account or might there be some other method in which I could achieve this.

Any thoughts you might have would be VERY welcome.

Thanks for listening: Last week, Thunderbird began returning this message with each attempt to send mail: An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: <tedcomo@chartertn.net> sender rejected. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again. I have no problem receiving mail. At the same time, my wife began having the same problem on her laptop, which tells me either Charter, or Mozilla, changed something. I started with Charter. They told me to rename both servers to mobile.charter.net (outgoing mail was formerly smpt.charter.net. No effect. They then had me log into Spectrum and send a test mail directly from my account. It went through OK and they said the problem had to be on Mozilla's end. Any suggestions?

I deleted the msf files and reopened Thunderbird but the files did not reappear.

How do I display them again?

After a power outage I now get this message on all three of my computers but only on some accounts:

"An error occurred while sending mail, The mail server responded: <1234@roadrunner.com> sender rejected. The email address you are sending as must match the email address you used to auth. Please check your SMTP settings, AUP#Out-1500. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again."

I know what that means but I'm very confused because I use and have always used ONE <default> smpte for all my accounts and never had a problem until now. Thunderbird even gives the user a choice of whether to use one default account or separate smpte password statements for each account. I still can't send when I try to enter separate urls and/or passwords for each account. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks, Joe

Since auto-updating to Thunderbird v128 which has since auto-updated to v128.2.2, I am unable to send without getting error messages like the attached. This appears to be happening consistently and the I am unable to send emails from TB, although I can send them from my phone without issue.
