Lost unread emails in INBOX - did not delete; not in Trash or Junk. Have a backup per "Import/ExportTools NG". When I open the backup "folder" via WIN Explorer, don't see any InBox "folder", etc. and "folder" tree structure does not resemble my T-Bird Folders and Subfolders. Can I just restore the inbox, without having to restore everything in the backup?? Thank you. Greg

I'm down to the last few days before Outlook will not be usable on Thunderbird unless I jump through some hoops.

I've seen posts about deleting the Outlook account, then reinstalling it in Thunderbird and Thunderbird will create the necessary security steps to make it usable again. This seems to be the method that works rather than just going into the settings and changing the necessary security settings.

MY QUESTION IS: I have lots of emails (sent and received from past months and years) that I keep in folders within Thunderbird.

How can I keep those folders/emails in the format I have if it's necessary to delete the account on Thunderbird then reestablish it? My understanding is that deleting it in Thunderbird will also delete all local folders and email saved within that account.

Thanks B

Hello, I have experienced an error when I click on the inbox of my domain email address. My email *******@meditationwithjason.com sends and receives mail though Thunderbird with no issues yet I get an error when clicking on the inbox. I attached a screenshot of the notification. Hopefully it's just a small issue I can fix on my own. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

After silent update to Windows (11) version 128.2.0esr of Thunderbird all account information was lost. After I entered all credentials again Thunderbird confirmed that account data is correct and showed absolutely empty email folders. I tried to import from existing profile ( which I suppose update procedure should do automatically) but this did not change the result. The mail access method I use is IMAP. I can verifty that my emails are present on server via web interface.

This is extremely frustrating

I run Thunderbird on a PC, and, to free up space on Drive C:, I have moved the contents of the folder Thunderbird in Appdata to Drive D:. I then changed my Server Settings, in Thunderbird, from C: to D:, and note that any new mail is indeed now appearing there along with those already transferred. This move could save me a valuable 6 gig of space, and more in the future, however, I am unable to remove that original Thunderbird folder entirely, notably I am unable to remove the contents of the Profiles folder, as it is still linked to the application. Notably with cookies.sqlite, cookies.sqlite-shm, store.json, mozlz4, aborted-session-ping and many others, which I note some have continued to be updated. I have been unable to find any other settings in Thunderbird referring to Drive C:, other than those in Server Settings.

I could presume that if I installed another version of Thunderbird on Drive D: and maybe moved those existing contents of the Thunderbird folder on C: onto Drive D:, and made those numerous settings changes to the App it could work. But I ask is there an easier way to complete this move? How can I complete this transition of Thunderbird from Drive C: to Drive D:?

For security reasons my computer has had to be re formated. When I have reinstalled Thunderbird I have got all sent emails going back 5 years, deleted emails from the begining of this month and some, but not all, inbox emails from this week. As all my sent emails are listed is it possible to recover my received emails over the same time period.

Microsoft are again complaining about normal password login.

Today I have updated to Version 128.2.0esr (64-bit)

I have set outgoing server to StartTLS and OAuth2 and it is fine.

When i set OAuth2 in server settings and try to retrieve mail i get "Host contacted, sending login............" and it sticks at that point with no error messages from Thunderbird or Microsoft.

If i revert to "Normal Password" it is fine.

When microsoft first complained i turned on two step authorisation and the used their option (cannot remember what it was called now) to create a login password/key for thunderbird so that it would still work for "Normal Password" setting

How do we get round Microsoft's obstacles???>

Hi, I updated Ubuntu and after update almost all my emails and my catalogues settings are gone. I only see a few mails received over the past 2 weeks before an update, and a few from a few weeks after I bought my PC and set up Thunderbird.

During the update I was asked: "Do you want to reset your setting to default?" and some second question and I responded "Yes" twice.

Everything apart from mails from Thunderbird stayed with no changes. Do you have any idea how to try to get my mails back? I'm happy to share all data you need to answer my question. Thank you in advance!

Hi there,

I recently set up Thunderbird to access my Gmail using IMAP. All seems well, except for the fact that some messages have gone missing from their folders/labels. For example - I have a message thread in Gmail, labelled 'Work', with the subject line 'New project'. As expected, these have appeared as a folder in Thunderbird called 'Work', and a message thread with the subject line 'New project'. But not all the messages in the Gmail conversation are there. It's pretty extreme, too - the conversation on the Gmail website has 10 messages in it, and on Thunderbird only two are showing. So, I did a search for text in the missing messages, and they showed up in my my 'All Mail' folder - but I need them to appear as part of the conversation. Any advice? This is going to be a bit of a nightmare for email organisation if I can't get it sorted.

Hello. Each time I fire up Thunderbird, I get a series of panes (pains?) from Microsoft, asking for my passwords for my Outlook accounts. Sometimes, it asks for all of them. Sometimes, it asks for a few. It seems rather random. When I enter each one, I get a message on the screen saying "Authentication failure". However, if I persist and enter all the passwords, Thunderbird works. I had this problem a couple of months ago. I think it's related to something that MS did. A chap called Matt helped. But, unfortunately, it's returned. Could anyone, please, advise me? Thank you, Barry.

I have just upgraded xubuntu to 24.04, and am now missing all folders. Messages are available on searching, so all is not lost. Can send and receive OK. I suspect "snap". Looking at my file map, I see that I have Tbird and snap at the same level, and also "Thunderbird_backup_profile.zip".

A user with snap-related problems on here was advised thus:

"UDP: Remove thunderbird in snap. Install over apt. All works perfect. DO NOT USE install thunderbird in snap!"

OK, so what can I do now, please?
