I am dealing with a government website. All of the government forms are available as PDFs on this website. However if I try to download a form the site looks at the browser description and does not see Adobe Acrobat installed on my system, so it returns a text document telling me to install Adobe Acrobat release 8 or higher. I cannot install Adobe Acrobat because Adobe does not support Linux. I don't need to install Adobe because Firefox, Chrome, and every other browser on the market has builtin support for PDF. How do I customize Firefox to LIE to the website and say that Adobe Acrobat is installed?

In Google Chrome, if you fill in the first letters of a website you want to visit, the browser will autocomplete the name and give you the option to press the tab key and search that website. Why doesn't FF have this function?

I know there is a system with keywords, but this is less efficient I think. You have to set up the keyword and then remember it. I don't think the keyword system itself is bad, but I don't see why there couldn't be a 'tab to search' function with all possible websites, in addition to the keywords system.

I have firefox developer edition 88.0b9, I have disabled updates using policies.json(DisableAppUpdate: true), so the infamous "update to the latest version" popup with the green icon went away. But now it seems there's another form of those popups that firefox employs. And in the search bar this time. Why aren't they disabled by DisableAppUpdate? How can I disable them using about:config or something of the sort? Pretty sure I've got no malware or anything, always been careful about that kind of thing. Don't have many programs installed. Don't have any addons except an adblocker. All the buttons on that annoying popup lead to official mozilla resources: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-release https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ So what do I do with those popups? I have no intention of updating(I don't want any redesigns, any new functionaly, any other things that would disrupt me and change the stuff I'm used to). Only want to disable those popups. That's the entire reason I used policies.json - to disable those annoying popups. But now another form of them appears.

Once again, the Top Sites that I have chosen on the the FF Home Page have shifted, or been removed. When I add them back on (and PIN) the site shortcut is there, but now I can't get the ICON that represents the Short Cut to appear and I have no idea how to find the URL for the ShortCuts, ie., the Twitter Bird that used to appear automatically, as an example.

I tried to take a Screen Shot, but the Screen Shot does not work on the FF Home Page.

Would it be too difficult to put a "Lock" button, similar to the Windows Lock for the Task Bar. PIN does NOT work.

I have not added any extensions or made any other changes that would affect this. Please advise how to correct this, and I don't want to have to follow directions that take me all over the place like go to file such and such and check such and such. That never works and usually ends up screwing up other issues. It worked once, I don't see why it doesn't work now.

Thank you for you time and I look forward to a SIMPLE solution.

Can I change the keyboard shortcut for Responsive Design Mode which is Ctrl+Shift+M?

The fingerprints are the biggest privacy threat on the internet. Firefox has great add-ons for that, but the problem is the screen size (resolution). I have a very rare screen size, only 1% has it, so I'm always unique on the net. You can change the resolution using Responsive Design Mode, but I would like to get it faster, at least by changing the shortcut.

It would be great if someone would make an add-on for this, that is, with one click to the Responsive Design Mode.

Hey, I want to make the UI slightly larger; I have found that modifying layout.css.devPixelsPerPx in about:config works the way I need it to. However, when using multiple screens with different resolutions, the scaling no longer appears consistent between those screens. That would make sense (since it's a per-pixel configuration), but I couldn't any configuration option that only acts as a modifier for the standard scaling mechanism. I'm using macOS (10.15.7), Firefox 88.0. Attaching a screenshot taken from both screens together (not sure how macOS handles the difference in resolution when handling screenshots, there's definitely some magic going on with macOS screenshots in general; either way, it shows the problem really well).

When picture-in-picture is invoked, it opens video small window. In the past it was a super tiny window, then after some updates it increased in size, then it went small again. The proportions of the window are also useless for most YT vids.

Basically, every time I use picture-in-picture I have to resize it. This is tirin. Is there a way to customize the start size of it like:

- set start size ...x... - remember the last size - auto-size based on the video proportions, set to 1/4 or 1/5 or 1/3, etc.

and so on.

Currently this picture in picture is more annoying then helpful because it require constant manipulation of the picture size. Annoying as hell.

When on YouTube, the searchbar annoyingly changes. There doesn't seem to be a setting to stop this behaviour.

I am not logged into YouTube, I don't even have an account on this browser. Youtube is not listed in the search engines. There are no YouTube search add-ons or suchlike installed.

I don't want websites to be in control of my UI. How do I stop this unwanted behaviour?

Hello

Recently I chaged firefox font color and (font)background color; font color near white, (font)background color near black. From that time Youtube in_screen control button's (play/pause/sound/setting/full screen) background color changed to near white (default translucent) so the buttons became barely distinguishable.

I changed font/background color to the original, installed themes and addons but failed to set the buttons back to the original color.

Slidebar color changed to (font)background color.

I have eyes problem and some internet sites don't allow the dark mode, So I had to try browser color code editing for my eyes.

Could someone please tell me how to reverse the change or change the button's background color translucent?

Hi.

Often, "HTTPS Everywhere" blocks links to sites because the real URL is embedded in another (probably tracking) URL, and that URL points to a site that doesn't support HTTPS.

I have both ClearURLs and "HTTPS Everywhere" installed, and I hypothesize that if "ClearURLs" could remove strip the surrounding tracking URL from the embedded real URL, most real sites would work without complaint.

Can I somehow tell Firefox to apply "ClearURLs" before "HTTPS Everywhere", so that "HTTPS Everywhere" operates on the sanitized real address? (Or am I interpreting the situation wrongly?)

Thanks for your help.

Warmly, Pete

My extensions disappeared today, for some reason. I added some back to the laptop I was working on, but when I switched to my other one, they were not there. Do extensions not sync? Add-ons are included in items being synced on my settings page. I was hoping to find they never disappeared from that laptop so I could see which ones to add back. I'm on a Windows 10 machine.

Hello all. Why has FireFox been degrading lately? What's going on? What happens to the only browser on the planet? Why has the new design lost icons and does not allow you to use the thin strip of the bar? Where did the page view button go and why you should follow it into the general menu under the headline of the window or open it on hot keys? Especially what happens with DoH, where did the set-up network.trr.bootstrapAddress in about:config disappear? I kept hoping that the white lights would be fixed when I started and opened the new tab, but it still remains, do I still have WaterFox to continue using or what? Which by the way for some reason is further optimized under the various instructions of the processor unlike the original, which gives a great performance when using a decent set of extensions with a large blocklist of the ad blocker.
