I seem to be encountering various problems since the update to 73, the main one is the profile folder, I dislike the default location so have previously just put my preferred location in appdata\roaming\mozila\profiles.ini but 73 regularly ignores this and puts a basic profile in the default location and alters profile.ini. Using the profile manager does not get any better results. I am also having problems with the home page, I have set a custom page but 73 often resets this to a blank page or sometimes the default home page. I have had to resort to a 'portable' version as 73 constantly resetting things was getting so annoying but the portable does not work well as a default browser.

I love the default firefox homepage with the top sites, highlights, etc. However I'd love it even more with an option to navigate it with keyboard shortcuts. I know there are several "speed dial" extensions with that functionality, but I would prefer to keep the normal look and feel of the homepage just with keyboard shortcuts for top sites and highlights. Is there a setting to enable shortcuts? If not, this would be a suggestion rather than a question.

The latest update 89.0b3 broke my entire workflow and actually leaves me wondering, if programmers at Mozilla never search the web for errors - am I the only one getting errors during compile time? It's now nearly impossible to use Firefox efficiently to search for errors during coding. As can be seen in your press screenshots (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/about-new-tab-page) there used to be a "Search the web" bar on the new tab page in addition to the "Search or enter web address" URL bar. As their descriptions say, the search bar always triggered a web search - this is a feature i regularly used (~50 times on a work day), which has now been removed. Why? Because Firefox often recognizes my search queries as keywords to trigger the system handler, because they contain a ":". This is often the case with error messages of compilers, as in "ImportError: cannot import name". Instead, both bars show the same description "Search or enter web address" and work the same. Please tell me, how can I restore my search-only-bar, or is a bug report needed to revert changes/introduce a configuration option?

I have an oled tv as monitor and Im trying to take of it as much as possible to avoid burning, I switched from Chrome since in full screen it wont let me see the bars when I hover over the top, so far I have everything set up perfectly as I like but 1 thing, its a little bit annoying that I have to exit full screen to access the windows taskbar. So far from what I have searched, its meant to be like that, Im wondering if there's a way to make the taskbar show when I hover over the bottom of the screen.

I appreciate any info that helps me, thanks.

In Firefox 90.0a1 (tried on the Nightly version), Mozilla removed the three dots and the ‘add to Pocket’ button from the address bar. I am not sure if this is the right place to ask, but why did Mozilla do that? I liked them a lot! I have added both the Pocket button, and the screenshot button back, but since they are now placed in the toolbar, the whole UI looks more cluttered.

I've been using this neat little utility for years, but development was ceased quite some time back. It still works, but the problem is that it randomly shuts down and has to be relaunched.

I'm hoping someone is familiar with something similar. See screenshot. The top four numbers are my four cores cpu usage.

I like using the address bar to search, but when I start typing an address I don't want the first thing between what I'm typing and the actual url that I can quick select to be 6 "search suggestions". Going into about:config and setting keyword.enabled false removes those search suggestions but it also stops the address bar search from working. Is there a setting that I can use to set the number of displayed suggestions to 0?

Hello all. Why has FireFox been degrading lately? What's going on? What happens to the only browser on the planet? Why has the new design lost icons and does not allow you to use the thin strip of the bar? Where did the page view button go and why you should follow it into the general menu under the headline of the window or open it on hot keys? Especially what happens with DoH, where did the set-up network.trr.bootstrapAddress in about:config disappear? I kept hoping that the white lights would be fixed when I started and opened the new tab, but it still remains, do I still have WaterFox to continue using or what? Which by the way for some reason is further optimized under the various instructions of the processor unlike the original, which gives a great performance when using a decent set of extensions with a large blocklist of the ad blocker.

Hi.

Often, "HTTPS Everywhere" blocks links to sites because the real URL is embedded in another (probably tracking) URL, and that URL points to a site that doesn't support HTTPS.

I have both ClearURLs and "HTTPS Everywhere" installed, and I hypothesize that if "ClearURLs" could remove strip the surrounding tracking URL from the embedded real URL, most real sites would work without complaint.

Can I somehow tell Firefox to apply "ClearURLs" before "HTTPS Everywhere", so that "HTTPS Everywhere" operates on the sanitized real address? (Or am I interpreting the situation wrongly?)

Thanks for your help.

Warmly, Pete

Hello

Recently I chaged firefox font color and (font)background color; font color near white, (font)background color near black. From that time Youtube in_screen control button's (play/pause/sound/setting/full screen) background color changed to near white (default translucent) so the buttons became barely distinguishable.

I changed font/background color to the original, installed themes and addons but failed to set the buttons back to the original color.

Slidebar color changed to (font)background color.

I have eyes problem and some internet sites don't allow the dark mode, So I had to try browser color code editing for my eyes.

Could someone please tell me how to reverse the change or change the button's background color translucent?

Process is to open the u tube music library file and click on uploads and drag files from windows onto the page and it will upload. My problem is when I do this, the file I drag over shows a red circle with a line through it and will not upload to u tube music. It is the correct file type MP3. Is there a setting within firefox that I can change that could be preventing me from doing this? thanks. brian

When on YouTube, the searchbar annoyingly changes. There doesn't seem to be a setting to stop this behaviour.

I am not logged into YouTube, I don't even have an account on this browser. Youtube is not listed in the search engines. There are no YouTube search add-ons or suchlike installed.

I don't want websites to be in control of my UI. How do I stop this unwanted behaviour?
