HI all. This is a good one. I recently got a MAC, my first one, so dont know much about it. I installed thunderbird and can receive via IMAP but cant send via SMTP. I have smtp setup EXACTLY how it is on my windows PC which works. When I hit send on a message, it immediately comes back with "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) <maileserver.com> timed out. Try again. This message comes back immediately, as in .000001 second. This particular mail server I own and is on my network, and checking the logs, the request never even gets to the server, so its not a server issue. (Again, it works for all my other devices and other clients). server info, password etc are correct. I tried deleting the account and recreating it but no go. From a command tool, I can telnet to my mail server on port 25 and it answers and I can interact. If I use the built in mac mail client, it works fine. So this is definitely a thunderbird issue from what I can tell. Thunderbird 143.0.1 (aarch64) on 26.0.1 (25A362) Any tips appreciated, Im ready to take a bath with a toaster. Thank you!

I have been using Thunderbird for a few months and changed my Google Password(even though Im not quite sure if the error wasnt already occuring before that), but now when I go on Thunderbird it gives me a popup window that says "Enter credentials for name@gmail.com on imap.gmail.com". Theres a field for the email-adress, but when I click "Next" theres the following error: "400. That’s an error. The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know."

These are the things I tried: Entering the old or new Password. Checked if the config is set to OAuth2 in both incoming and outgoing servers and enabled on Gmail-Account. Deleted and tried to (unsuccessfully) reregister my Thunderbird-Account. The same error pops up when it checks my password after the configuration.

I dont know if the password change is actually the cause, since I think I remember the error message appearing earlier today, before I changed the password, but Im not sure. Also, I have another account linked to my Thunderbird, with no changed credentials, and while there is no similar error message, thunderbird suddenly also has problems connecting to it and asks to retry a few times (3-4) before actually connecting everytime I open it.

I currently have version 12.1 of the Thunderbird Android app. A few weeks ago, the app stopped showing messages in IMAP subfolders. All messages that were there disappeared from view. The messages can still be viewed in the Thunderbird Windows desktop program and in the K-9 11.1 app.

I was using MS outlook and recently I could not connect. Apparently ATT made a change so that instead of a password you need a Secure email Key. Since I needed to make a change I thought I'd try Thunderbird mail, but I still need the KEY. After a number of efforts with the ATT AI and human support people I could not find where the Key is entered on ATT. Now I know this forum is about Thunderbird and not ATT, but there must be Thunderbird users that have ATT and have made a seccussful connection. There are a few ATT help pages that outline how to do this, but each time I look at my ATT profile I can not find where to enter the Secure Mail Key. Is there anyone that can help me with this? THanks Mike

Suddenly, my "main" comcast account is no longer accessible via Thunderbird. I have three accounts set up: two comcast and one gmail. The gmail and one comcast account appear to be all right. When I try to access the comcast one I call main, I receive the window shown in the uploaded image. It seems as if TB has somehow forgotten the way it accesses "main" accounts. I have verified that the "main" account is fine on the comcast server by logging into it. The question is if I remove the TB "main" account and recreate it, will I lose any messages? Is this likely to correct the issue?
