My Fast Dial add-on has disabled and won't reinstall or function as it used to.

When I quit Firefox my tabs won't restore when I reopen Firefox.

The bookmarks toolbar has disappeared and wont' reappear however much I click View>Toolbars>Bookmarks Toolbar.

There's other issues as well. It's too depressing.

Chosen solution

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

  • Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize"
  • Check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette in the customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • If missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up

I'm guessing that the extension doesn't work with Firefox 12. If you really want it I'd send them feedback. Here is how to: Go to Help - Submit Feedback.

Thank you cor-el; you're a star. That solved the problem and everything is working fine now.

Had to fiddle with the Fast Dial preferences to completely restore my previous preferences, but other than that your advice solved everything.

Many thanks.
