Cannot make FireFox run on new Windows 11
Hello
I got a new Asus Vivobook Core i9 16G Ram I did the basic Windows 11 installation for the Laptop and installed TotalAV.
After all Windows 11 updates passed, I wanted to install FireFox anf got this issue: Firefox cannot start correctly (0xc0000022) after version ..
I tried several time to close all Firefox task, uninstall, remove all files from existing profiles (local, roaming, etc...) so as all files under "Programs"". I made sure to get the latest code, but I always get back to this issue.
While opening FireFox, I immediatly get a Crashed Tab reported. Even the Settings are not opening in a Tab.
I even tried to use a older version. Same issue... Never the less I can Update the older version in "About FireFox".
After update I see 122 installed
I used FireFox for many years, and wanted to continue.. In the meantime I installed Opera
Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance Laurent

Hello
I solved my issue. As this is a new LapTop and installation was not complete, I did a factory restore and reinitialized the Laptop.
After fresh installation, applying all updates and installing TotalAV, i did not encounter any issue. Installation finished without Error 0xc0000022. FireFox is running even without "run as Administrator"

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
- On the keyboard, press [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a Run window that contains a text field.
- In that text field, type %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
- From that explorer window, double-click on the Mozilla folder, then double-click on Firefox and then on Crash reports. Double-click on submitted.
- Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to View > Arrange Icons by > Modified to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
- Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
- Paste each ID with bp- into the reply window on the forums.
Thanks in advance!
You can find more information and troubleshooting steps in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.

Hello
Thank you for the replies. I tested the proposed tool, but I stopped when needed to register.
I did some other testing too after reading and following this post: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/the-application-was-unable-to-start-correctly/e06ee08a-26c5-447a-80bd-ed339488d0f3
- uninstall FireFox
- remove all FireFox profiles
- command line interface (run as Adminisistrator)
- sfc /scannow
- DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- reinstall FireFox using run as Administrator => 0xc0000022 poped up
- install FireFox again uisng run as Administrator => FireFox starts and I can open pages
- restart FireFox not using run as Administartor => I cannot open any page.. All blank, even FireFox settings is not working
- restart FireFox using run as Administrator => I can use FireFox
This means there is must be an issue with user permissions on FireFox install routine

What version of Win11? If Pro, can you fire up Windows Sandbox and see if you have the same issues in the VM? https://www.howtogeek.com/399290/how-to-use-windows-10s-new-sandbox-to-safely-test-apps/ This will let you know if TotalAV is the issue or not.
Modified
You can also disable or uninstall it and see if Firefox works.
if TotalAV might be the issue, how come I can use FireFox when I run it as Administrator
Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
1-Run Firefox as Administrator:
Right-click on the Firefox shortcut or executable and choose "Run as administrator." This ensures that Firefox has the necessary permissions to function correctly.
2-Check Windows Defender or Antivirus Settings:
Sometimes security software may interfere with the installation and operation of applications. Ensure that Windows Defender or any other antivirus software is not blocking Firefox.
3-Check Windows File and Folder Permissions:
Ensure that your user account has the necessary permissions for the Firefox installation directory. Right-click on the Firefox folder, go to "Properties," and navigate to the "Security" tab to check and adjust permissions.
4-Run System File Checker:
Open Command Prompt as administrator and run the following commands: sfc /scannow dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
5- Create a New Windows User Account: Sometimes user profiles can get corrupted. Create a new user account on Windows and see if Firefox works correctly in that account.
6- Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows 11 is fully updated, as certain system updates might address compatibility issues.

That's why you need to test... Disable TotalAV, reboot, and see what happens like this user. https://support.mozilla.org/gl/questions/1402769
Modified
I tried all options..
- uninstall TotalAV and reboot
- Run FireFox => issue is persistent
- uninstall and reinstall FireFox => issue is persistent
Great. Windows home or pro? If Pro, can you fire up Windows Sandbox and see if you have the same issues in the VM? https://www.howtogeek.com/399290/how-to-use-windows-10s-new-sandbox-to-safely-test-apps/
