Hello Community. Why is the bold blue text in the Google search results being truncated whenever there is a picture shown beside it? See my screen capture with yellow highlights to see what I mean. It's been happening for some months. I have reinstalled Firefox but the problem persists. Other browsers displaying the same pages are fine.

Works fine for me.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content.

  • click the shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection

You can check the Web Console for relevant-looking messages about blocked content.

You can try these steps in case of issues with webpages:

You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Settings).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> [X] Cached Web Content -> Clear

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

You need to provide the url so others can verify what the problem is or if they have such issues or not.

Thank you all for your replies. It's all getting a little too complicated for me. One day, Firefox was working fine the next day it wasn't - no changes to software, settings, security, add-ons/extensions, etc. The URL is the Google search page and the problem is in how it displays the search results no matter what I search for. I start with https://www.google.com.au (my home page). I enter something (anything) in the search field, e.g. in this case: Amazon. The search results, no matter what the search is for, are truncated whenever there is a pic to the right of the text in the search result. If there is no pic to the right of the search result, then the full text line appears. When I do the same search in Chrome, I get the same search results, but the text is not truncated whether there is a picture or not. See screen shots attached for comparison: Firefox Amazon Search Chrome Amazon Search Is nobody else having this problem? Many thanks.
