Multilingual websites are in the wrong language
This is driving me crazy! I'm currently in Sweden and some multilingual websites keep reverting to Swedish. I don't speak Swedish at all and it's not even listed in the Firefox > Settings > Languages. Google.com and Google Docs are notorious for this. Oddly enough - never Youtube.
How do I prevent that? If it makes it easier I want literally everything in English.

Websites like Google do a reverse DNS lookup of your IP to get your location and automatically serve pages in the local language. There is usually a button to go to Google.com if you get redirected to the Swedish website. For Google search you can set language and region via the Google search settings.
Such choices are stored in a cookie on your computer, so you need to keep such a cookie (e.g. create a cookie allow exception and do not use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear Cookies and Site Preferences).
@cor-el Thanks. But to me it means the entire Language section in Firefox's Settings is obsolete.
Not necessarily obsolete as this is merely meant to say to a website what language(s) you prefer. It is up to the website to decide what to do with this accept request in the HTTP request headers. Websites that support multiple languages can possibly serve their pages in the first accept language they support.
You can test this on this website and set the first preferred language to something random like Italian or Spanish and open the link in a New Private Window to prevent using current cookies and cache.
I regularly encounter the same problem, at this very moment with gizmodo.com which automatically redirects me to es.gizmodo.com.
Problem is that their site is soo badly designed that their is not even an option to select a different location/language manually and even their (Spanish) help option redirects to a non-existing page.
Guess I'm just screwed / will have to go to a competitors/alternative site?
