In what way is caret browsing not working ?

• Options/Preferences -> General -> Browsing -> Always use the cursor keys to navigate within pages

When i load a new page, the cursor isn't appearing and the arrow keys scroll instead of moving the cursor.

I can make the cursor appear by clicking with the mouse inside the window and then i can move it, but i want to avoid using the mouse...

No difference.

If i press it two times, the caret browsing msg popup opens. (first time it disables it)

In enabled state i can place the cursor with my mouse, if i disable it, the cursor disappears.

Apparantly you had caret browsing enabled.

I don't use caret browsing, nor do I use (have or want) a mouse ; I move the cursor using my touchpad ....

What happens when you use your touchpad ?

Would you do this please :

Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter. (ignore the warning)

Type in the search bar caret and check out the preference
there and their values.

Touchpad is the same as with the mouse...

I don't know these settings, would you consider them normal? And wouldn't they be synchronized over the machines, where caret browsing works? ( I will check the settings myself on the other machines later )

I tried to change some of them, but no difference.

They look alright to me, but in all honesty ; I'm not an expert ....

As I'm out of ideas, I hope that someone else will come to your rescue.

Just one more thing I would like you to try :

Disable your add-ons and see if that will make a difference (I know that you're using the same add-ons on your other devices).

I would start with "Vimium", and if that's not it, then "uBlock Origin".

(worth a try - just in case .... )

Can you focus the web page area when you press the F6 key once or twice (this is a toggle between the browsing area and the location bar) ?

I've removed the extensions, no change.

F6 switches between the location bar and selecting the whole browsing area ( a dotted rectangle around the whole browsing area ).
