Many news sites or even my extension’s page have gone completely black and I can’t read the text.

I have at least 4 separate screen shots of multiple problems. Even shut off hardware accelerate, rebooted and shut off all my extensions, addons and pluggins. I did this to be safe and see if it was a malfunctioning pluggin of some kind. It is not, it's not a hardware acceleration glitch either, it started only after the most recent update. Is this fixable?

Do recall changing the default colors on Firefox's Options page? Usually it's black-on-white. Any change you changed it to white-on-black (or black-on-black)?

Could you try here:

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

Scroll down a bit to "Language and Appearance" and click the "Colors" button. If Background is black, try something a little lighter to see whether that helps on sites that don't account for this setting.

Have you tried; Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

No it was still the same even without the addon's and in safe mode as you instructed same thing no change only change was all the addons were turned off which I did and even uninstalling and renistalling it didn't fix the issue. It just made it more annoying.

THAT FIXED IT! Thank you so much, for some reason it put everything on black and black! I never even knew it was there. Thank you so much jscher2000!
