Everytime I close firefox my preferences reset. How do I prevent this from happening?

In order to use proctorfree for my college exams and for me to complete my homework I need to use a custom setting for my history and to make sure Java is enabled. When I fix this and close out the browser the settings reset. Am I missing something? How can I keep from having to do this EVERY time I open the browser.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
