I am trying to remove a script error that tells me the page may be busy or have stopped responding. However, when I tried to follow the instructions of typing, "about.config" in the address box the list does not show up.

It is about:config with a colon and not with a dot.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
